Current Sermon Series
Join us for the next six weeks to learn how to live wisely through a survey of Proverbs.
The following is an excerpt from Live Wisely 3: Tell the Truth
Imagine what your world would be like if everyone were committed to speaking only the truth in love. Imagine your home, your work, your neighborhood and church if everyone was committed to telling the truth. If that’s ever going to happen, it starts with me, and it starts with you. You can't control someone else's honesty. You can your own.
So where will you start? What’s your homework beginning this week? It all depends on where you’re at in the spectrum of dishonesty.
Are you telling someone a lie? Are you looking into someone’s eyes and just flat-out lying? You may need intensive care, either with a counselor or a very tough friend who will keep you accountable. Find out why you so need to control people that you can’t help but lie.
Are you telling white lies to somebody? You might need to just put a bit in your mouth for awhile. Talk less. Filter your words for lies. Invite a friend to lovingly, politely tell you to shut up.
Maybe your problem is exaggeration or broken promises. I’d bet God is asking you to go to the people you have hurt or merely inconvenienced and make an apology. Take responsibility and say I’m sorry. Promise that person you will change.
Finally, maybe you don’t tell lies. Maybe you just conceal the truth. Maybe you’re caught in the trap of peacekeeping, and you know you should tell the truth to someone but you're afraid of what’s going to happen next. Ask God for the courage to confront.

Bible Studies For Life - Wednesday Nights
A huge THANK YOU! to all of you who worked tirelessly to make Holy Smoke 2014 the fine event that it was. Approximately 650 meals were served and over $2,100 was donated to the Kearney Food Pantry by those attending.
"It was like a mini Branson." "Felt like a big block party." "The pulled pork was restaurant quality." "What's the band's name?" "Oh, that's our worship team!" These were just a few of the comments overheard at the Second Annual Holy Smoke BBQ contest, meal and entertainment event.
Even though we pigged out on pulled pork and had a smoking good time, the event is more than just food and fun. The Holy Smoke event is also a fundraiser for the Kearney Food Pantry. Nearly $1700.00 was collected in the countrified piggy banks provided on the tables and around 700 people enjoyed a free meal and excellent entertainment.
