TAKE A BIBLE VACATION THIS SUMMER

Well it’s that time of year again.  “24” is over for the season.  Our nation has chosen her American Idol.  Students are out, and many church and school programs are on hiatus.  It’s summertime and that means vacation season is underway.

God's Existence is Demonstrated in Nature

     Well the season is over and I finally put all the stuff away.  Brightly colored materials are now folded and bagged.  The trappings are all neatly boxed.  The tags are gone and the bow is in the case until later this year.  Deer season is over.

TEEN FAITH ANSWERS GOD'S CALL

        A few months ago, I received a call from a high school student named Sarah Roberts.  Sarah had a dream of hosting a concert at the high school to benefit the children of Sierra Leone.  She wondered if any local churches would like to help make this happen.  I was the first local pastor she contacted.

        She didn’t know that this was a subject close to my heart and that I had actually been to Africa earlier this year.  Neither did she know that I have a friend who is from Sierra Leone.  Daniel Sesay is a gifted musician who came to the U.S. to study music at the Colorado Christian University.  Today with a degree in Music Ministry he is a worship minister in Colorado.  His education and ministry helped him to establish a peaceful life here in the United States.  (Many of his friends and relatives were not so fortunate.)

My daughter wants a tattoo.

 

"You know, Brenna," I told her, "The Book of Leviticus forbids tattoos."  "Well, Dad," she said thoughtfully, "that was a cultural law that helped keep Israel separate and distinct from pagan cultures which used tattoos for religious purposes.  Those laws, like circumcision and dietary restrictions ended when Jesus came."

 

Doh!  I hate when she listens to my sermons.
