SLEEP IN HEAVENLY PEACE
 
James 2: 14-17 says:  What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds?  Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food.  If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?  In the same way, faith by itself if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

 

FAITH IN ACTION serving the needs of families in Platte and Clay County in collaboration with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, October 14, 2023, 8 to Noon at Community Covenant Church, 1820 South Jefferson, Kearney MO.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) is a volunteer-driven nonprofit dedicated to building and delivering hand-made, fully furnished beds to children in need. SHP’s mission is to tackle childhood bed lessness, which we estimate to affect nearly 3% of the population.

Community Covenant Church will run point on what we pray becomes a generous community outpouring to provide beds for as many children as possible in Clay and Platte Counties.

Many opportunities to participate will be available for everyone:  sponsor a bed ($250 includes all materials, mattress, bedding and delivery), build on build day, donate bedding, serve beverages and snacks on build day, welcome people, register families for beds through local organizations; schools, food pantry, area churches, etc.  Ages 10 to adult are welcome to build.  Children 10-12 must be accompanied by a parent for the build.

No special skills are required as all the material and equipment is provided by Sleep in Heavenly Peace chapter along with some of their experienced bed builders.  Just bring your heart and willingness to help bring beds to children in need.
